Migración empresarial de México a Estados Unidos
Dr. Elizabeth Salamanca has been full time professor of the Business and Economics School at the University of the Americas Puebla for the last fifteen years. She graduated of the Bachelor of Hotel and Restaurant Management at UDLAP. Upon completion of her degree, she worked in the Sales and Marketing department of the Meridien hotel chain at Lyon in France and as Catering Manager and Groups and Conventions Manager at Camino Real hotel chain in Mexico. She also worked in the Marketing Department at the Convention Center in the city of Puebla, Mexico. In 1999, with a scholarship from CONACYT and FIDERH, Dr. Salamanca began her graduate studies in Business Administration and earned the title of European Management Program, Management Business Administration (MBA) jointly conferred by the University of Deusto (Bilbao, Spain), the Ecole Superieure de Commerce de Nantes (France) and the University of Bradford (England). After completing her graduate studies, she became a full time professor of the Department of Business Administration and in 2001 she joined the academic staff of the Department of International Business. In 2005, Dr. Salamanca coauthored and coordinated the publication of the book entitled International Management Perspectives. In the same year she obtained the UDLAP Award 2005 in the academic category. In 2007 she started a doctorate program in Social and Economics Sciences at Johannes Kepler University of Linz, with the support of a grant from the Ministry of Education of Austria. In 2010 she obtained her doctorate. Dr. Salamanca coordinated during three years the undergraduate double degree program jointly offered by the UDLAP and Reims Management School in France. She coordinated as well during four years the double degree program offered by the UDLAP and Northeastern University in Boston. From August 2010 through June 2014 she was the head of the Department of International Business. In 2010, Dr. Salamanca published a book entitled "Human Resources Strategies in the Restaurant Industry. Overcoming Institutional Voids in Latin American Emerging Markets. In 2013 and 2014, she was a visiting professor at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Piacenza, Italy. In the summer of 2015, she conducted a research project as a Visiting Scholar at the Mexico Center of the Baker Institute at Rice University, through The Puentes Consortium. In the summer of 2016, she has been again a Visiting Scholar at the Mexico Center of the Baker Institute for Public Policy where she has been appointed as non-resident scholar to help shape the Mexico Center´s research agenda. In January 2019, she received funding from Mission Foods-Texas Mexico Center (Southern Methodist University) for the research project entitled “Contemporary High-Skilled Mexican Immigrant Entrepreneurs in Texas.” In 2017, she was awarded the recognition Compromiso con la Educación UDLAP 2017. In both teaching and research activities, Dr. Salamanca focuses on the analysis of the Latin American markets; the study of entrepreneurial migration; the study of institutional voids, and the managerial application of multiculturalism theories.
