Oleg Starostenko is a Doctor of Science with a specialty in Optoelectronics from the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, Mexico. Master and Bachelor of Computer Systems Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Lviv, Ukraine. He is currently full-time professor in the Department of Computing, Electronics and Mechatronics at the Universidad de las Americas Puebla, Mexico.
He is the author of 230 publications, of which 3 are USSR patents, 66 articles in specialized and indexed journals, 34 book chapters, 3 articles in popular magazines and others in national and international conference proceedings.
His last two major research projects supported by the European PEOPLE IRSES community are: Security, Services, Networking and Performance of Next Generation IP-based, Multimedia Wireless Networks and CASES: Cloud computing-based Advisory Services towards Energy-efficient manufacturing Systems. He is a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI) level I. His areas of interest are multimedia information access, transmission, retrieval and processing. He has been an advisor to 10 PhD students, 25 masters students, and 81 bachelors students who successfully completed their degree projects.
He is a teacher who demands professionalism from his students, which he considers to be a distinctive sign of UDLAP students. Through teaching, he transmits his knowledge to the students to turn them into experts in the areas of the career they selected.
Since 1996 he has been a full-time professor and currently he is Professor of the Academic Department of Computing, Electronics and Mechatronics at the School of Engineering of the Universidad de las Américas Puebla.
