Universidad de las Américas Puebla (UDLAP) in Mexico is seeking applications Virtual Visiting Faculty, for the Spring and Fall terms of 2025, at Master level.

At UDLAP the Master-level courses are taught in trimesters (10-week periods), starting in January, March, August, and October of each year. The deadline for applications for each term is one month prior to the beginning of courses.

Our beautiful campus is located in the historic and magic town of Cholula, a small, safe, and picturesque town near the city of Puebla, which is one of the largest cities in Mexico.

Profile of the Visiting Faculty Applicants

As part of its internationalization strategy, UDLAP is looking for young academics who are willing to teach at UDLAP for one term, with the possibility to engage in joint-research with our full-time faculty.

UDLAP is seeking to receive enthusiastic academics, including recent Ph.D. graduates and ABDs, and invite applicants from world-leading universities to apply, especially those who are looking to expand their teaching experience and are open to exploring research opportunities.

Eligible candidates shall be fluent in English (fluency in Spanish is not required, as teaching may be done in English) and keen to interact with a different culture while sharing their academic and professional experience and their passion for international experiences.

The institution will be accepting candidates in the disciplines according to the current demand and course offering in each academic term.

The candidates’ terminal degree should be in one of the following fields:

Applied Mathematics For teaching (in the School of Business and Economics): Quantitative Market Research, Market Intelligence I, or Market Intelligence II.
For teaching (in the School of Sciences): Pattern Recognition, Data Visualization, or Selected Topic in Data Sciences.
Economics For teaching: Principles of Microeconomics or Principles of Macroeconomics.
Management of Complex Systems For teaching: Business Intelligence, Algorithms and Data Analysis, or Selected Topic in Management.
Social Sciences For teaching Clinical Psychology, Communication Sciences, or Pedagogy.
Arts and Humanities For teaching Digital Animation, Dance, Music, and Theater.
Engineering For teaching in Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Logistics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.

Duties of the Post

  • To join UDLAP for a full trimester: 10-week academic term (online, starting in January, April, June, July, and October).
  • To teach 1 course (6 Credits) at graduate level, according to the Academic Departments’ needs. Each course at UDLAP considers 48 hours of instruction, distributed along the term.
  • To be available to students for academic mentoring, where visiting scholars will be expected to advise students especially on topics such as international mobility, internships, self-managed projects, and/or research.
  • To be actively engaged in the academic life of the hosting department.
  • Priority will be given to those open to engage in joint research projects that may lead to publications and those who actively implement AI initiatives in their teaching and learning processes.

What UDLAP offers

  • An ideal academic opportunity to develop teaching skills in a research-intensive environment, which will prove valuable to applicants in their future search for a permanent position in their home countries or abroad.
  • A salary of USD $4,000.00 per course (before taxes, which must be retained in Mexico).
  • Please note that although the teaching experience is virtual, participants willing to attend UDLAP campus must cover their travel, housing, meals, and other expenses including visa issuance costs and international health insurance. In this case, the application must be made 90 days prior to the original deadlines.

  • A Cover Letter (no more than 1 Letter page), including a short research and teaching philosophy statement, and briefly describing your motivation to apply for this position and the field to which you are applying.
  • Your updated resume where the year of the latest obtained academic degrees and the corresponding granting institutions are clearly stated. The resume may be delivered in English or Spanish.
  • Scanned proof of your academic degrees (diplomas or certificates, including transcripts). Please note that ABDs may be considered for this opportunity if a date for dissertation has been established and happens before the start of the stay at UDLAP (please provide proof of the established date).
  • If available, a list of your research products (publications, chapters, books, etc.)
  • Consider including your latest professional appointments, distinctions, awards, or any other information that may be of interest for evaluation of your application. Online references to these achievements are greatly appreciated.
  • Names of possible courses or topics that you are qualified to teach.
  • Period or Term of interest to teach at UDLAP.
