University Profile

Fundación Universidad de las Américas Puebla’s governability is defined in its Organic Statutes, which recognizes the Board of Trustees as the authority to guard the University’s heritage. This Board also has the final say in the selection of the president.

The Business Council is a collegiate entity that decides, cares for and guards the institution’s integrity and the adequate use of resources. This Council follows the strategic plan, and the actions and goals reached by UDLAP, understanding the impact they have in meeting the university’s mission.

The Academic Council is a legislative entity on academic issues, and the Administrative Council is a legislative entity regarding administration. Both are recognized by Fundación Universidad de las Américas Puebla’s Board of Trustees.

  • Honesty and integrity: Members of the university community are committed to ensuring justice, basing themselves on it and acting with rectitude.

  • Tolerance and non-discrimination: Genuine knowledge is created and shared only in an environment of respect for others, for their opinions and diversity. The principles refer to how the University’s collective objectives, actions, and goals should be proposed. The principles are:

  • Quality Philosophy: Objectives consider our quality philosophy, whose execution is characterized by service, promoting a continuous improvement culture that reaches the established goals in each strategic guideline.
  • Internationalization: The focus of the objectives contemplates global actions to promote multiculturality and strengthen the university’s prestige beyond its borders.
  • Social Responsibility: Objectives are defined around ethics, social commitment, and environmental responsibility.
Our campus

Our campus is known for being one of the most diverse and green in the area. To date, it has 73.2 hectares, of which 50.61 are green areas.

At UDLAP we have spaces for students to develop their activities without distractions. Among these are:

The best place for congresses, plays and other events. Located in the center of campus, it is the most popular meeting area. It will be very hard not to find some activity inside.

Auditorio

For your days and nights of studying, our library is not only comfortable, but fuses the traditional with on-site and online services. There are 4 multimedia collaboration rooms and 3 bibliographical teaching rooms with computers, as well as cubicles for individual and group study.

This expression area includes audio and lighting, seating, a stage, dressing rooms, storage, ticket office and workshop.

Sala de artes

As part of your academic formation, we have science, health science, mechanical and industrial engineering, and telecommunications and water treatment labs. We also have a language learning complex, oral trials room, financial simulation room, projection room, qualitative and innovation research labs, marketing and retail qualitative research rooms, a Gesell chamber, a mobile app lab as well as photography, television, dance and music labs and a 3D printer. We also have a lodging lab, better known as San Andrés Hostel, open to the UDLAP community and overseen by students from the corresponding areas.

This is the preferred meeting place for the UDLAP community. It has services and activities that will keep you busy during your free time.

Here you will find from food services to office supplies, as well as projection rooms and student organization offices.

Centro estudiantil

To assure your wellbeing and physical health, we have a clinical analysis center and medical services that provide free service to community members who need it.

UDLAP has a comprehensive rehabilitation center (CIR) which provides medical care in orthopedics, joint surgery, sports medicine, rehabilitation medicine, physiotherapy, nutrition and physical preparation, with the latest in scientific and technological knowledge, always looking for innovation.

2023 Strategic plan

Universidad de las Américas Puebla’s strategic plan for the 2013-2023 is defined from its vision, thus giving life to its current mission. This mission unfolds into strategic guidelines whose objectives and actions are focused on the key principles, promoting a behavior based on institutional values.

In 2019 five priority objectives were defined, which complement the university strategic plan.

I. Relevant study programs

Quality licenciatura and graduate on-site and online study programs that meet the needs and expectations of public and private organizations and society, as they are the basis for the professional development of our alumni.

Professors who are recognized nationally and internationally, derived from their academic background, professional development, teaching experience, and research and/or artistic creation.

III. Research and artistic creation

The development of research and artistic creation projects to create cutting-edge knowledge that impacts the formation of high-level human resources, whose results and products will be presented, disseminated, and published in diverse forums.

IV. Excellent students

Students who are known for their knowledge, learning experience, and social responsibility to develop professionally, personally, culturally and athletically in a plural environment during their time at the university, meeting the quality and excellence standards required by public and private organizations as well as society.

V. Outreach

Establish national and international networks with alumni, private and public organizations, and society to promote a mutually beneficial collaboration.

VI. Administrative efficiency

Optimal administration of human, financial, and material resources to guarantee financial stability to meet the objectives and continuous growth of the institution.

Modern and sustainable facilities, with the necessary technological equipment and tools to fully develop teaching, research, cultural, sports, outreach, and administrative activities.

To meet UDLAP’s vision, five priority objectives were set for 2023:

    Generate the necessary resources to guarantee the institution’s sustainability, diversifying income and its efficient use to attract and retain human resources and maintain the levels of investment in technology, facilities, and financial scholarships and programs for the development of society.

    Strengthen academic recognition through a faculty that has professional, teaching and research credentials and experience. offer accredited study programs that are flexible to meet our current reality, transforming our students with an integral formation so they become excellent alumni.
  3. Institutional prestigel

    Position udlap in mexico and latin america as one of the best private universities in the creation of applied research, and a leading opinion in specialized topics.
  4. Outreach to society and businesses

    Strengthen udlap’s outreach to alumni, companies and society to attract resources for research and social programs, thus positioning the institution to create job opportunities for students and alumni.
  5. Organizational capital

    Create a work environment that promotes an appropriate organizational climate to develop their functions, effectively and efficiently, having a staff that is quite competent, meeting the standards of an udlap collaborator.

Accreditations

Universidad de las Américas Puebla teaches study programs with excellent academic quality through its faculty, which consists of 300 full-time professors, 95% of whom have graduate degrees, and 4 of 10 professors belong to the National Researcher System.

UDLAP gears its efforts towards providing high quality educational services, through an integral formation of its students in a multicultural environment based on respect and international understanding.

All study programs have Official Validity (Reconocimiento de Validez Oficial - RVOE) granted by the Secretary of Public Education and are recognized by different universities in Latin America, Europe and the US educational system.

Our students may study abroad and widen their horizons or do professional practices in other countries, making their formation and professional development wider and more varied.

Additionally, we have Licenciatura accreditation from the organizations that make up the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (COPAES - Consejo para la Acreditación de la Educación Superior, A.C.), before the Interinstitutional Committees for the Evaluation of Higher Education (CIEES - Comités Interinstitucionales para la Evaluación de la Educación Superior, A.C.) and other international agencies.

Faculty

UDLAP’s faculty consists of professors who are nationally and internationally recognized because of their academic background, professional development, teaching experience, and research and/or artistic creation.

Currently, almost 100% of full-time professors have a graduate degree and close to 80% have a graduate or terminal degree. It is normal for UDLAP professors to teach classes in their areas of expertise.

The global perspective of the faculty is evident as over 20% of full-time professors are foreign, and 60% have studied outside of Mexico. Likewise, the mobility program for faculty has allowed the university to have professors from all five continents.

The knowledge created by UDLAP professors contributes to the development of society through specialized journals which circulate in different information communication media.

The faculty participates in a robust updating program to strengthen their teaching abilities. Finally, participation in academic events or through business consulting enriches their technical knowledge in their area of expertise.
