Additionally, the Licenciatura en Médico Cirujano
(Medicine) received in November the favorable opin-
ion of the Mexican Council for Accrediting Medical
Education (COMAEM), which endorses its academic
quality and is the basis to obtain accreditation after
the first class graduates in 2013.
With these results, 27 licenciatura programs have
been accredited before national organizations, rep-
resenting a coverage of 75 % of our student body.
As for the graduate study programs, Master´s degrees
in Biotechnology, Food Science, Industrial Engineer-
ing, Computer Science, Construction Project Manage-
ment, and Chemical Engineering, as well as Doctorates
in Food Science, Computer Science and Creation and
Culture Theory, are recognized by the National Roster
of Quality Graduate Programs (PNPC) of the National
Council for Science and Technology (CONACYT).
During 2012, The School of Business and Economics
started the process of accreditation of its programs
before the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools
of Business (AACSB), earning a favorable opinion as
an initial result.
In the 2012-2013 period, the process to evaluate learn-
ing outcomes upon graduation (Learning Outcomes
Assessment System) was improved and updated.
Assessment methods were redefined generating
rubrics, which are evaluating instruments that mea-
sure the general proficiency of students, specific
outcomes for each discipline, and co-curricular com-
petences that we want the students to master at the
end of their studies.
In addition, our academic programs were strength-
ened to support the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP)
that aims to develop the critical thinking abilities of
our students through composition. To achieve this,
first language courses were redesigned, incorporat-
ing training activities and clearly defining how QEP
will be developed in the new study programs. We
will continue to implement activities that will help
QEP achieve greater learning effectiveness in our
students.
The new rubrics and actions under the Quality
Enhancement Plan (QEP) will be complemented
with a new evaluation method to be implemented
in 2013. All these actions will generate information to
precisely identify those features
of each study program where we
can make improvements. This
way, the University´s study pro-
grams will be included in per-
manent cycles of continuous
improvement.
As a consequence, international
consulting firms and evaluating
commissions that have visited
UDLAP recognize it as an institu-
tion of high academic quality that has effective eval-
uating instruments in all its disciplines.
INFORMATION AND LEARNING RESOURCES
UDLAP LIBRARY
Our bibliographical resources play an important role
in UDLAP´s positioning as a leading institution that
educate s professionals and researchers to take full
advantage of the latest information resources.
During 2012, close to nine million pesos were
invested in renewing electronic resources and insti-
tutional periodical publications, acquiring 3,500
books and increasing our electronic collection to
more than 1,800,000 titles.
Thanks to a program of relocation and modernization
in our library, the use of all bibliographic resources
has greatly increased. During 2012 there were 56,343
loans, of which 37,102 were regular loans, 18,700
used the auto-loan service and 541 were inter-library
loans. In this period the library registered a total of
