TECHNOLOGY AND INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT
was enlarged to have the necessary facilities for per-
formances. The control cabin was modified to allow
for the construction of bleachers with professional
seats.
In the School of Business and
Economics, the Retail, Qualita-
tive and Innovation Research and
Quantitative and Market Intelli-
gence laboratories were updated.
These spaces are used for adver-
tising appreciation and creativity,
product innovation and qualita-
tive research, as well as for client
presentations for the courses that focus on busi-
ness projects. A Gesell camera with two settings
was installed in order to have focus groups and an
observation room to analyze participant behavior.
This latter room also serves as a classroom when the
experiments are being carried out.
An exhaustion system was installed for the research
equipment in the Asphaltic Mix Laboratory, creating
a work environment suitable for the academic needs.
As part of the second phase of the Licenciatura in
Nursing project, the Fundamentals II laboratory was
installed, consisting of an ob/gyn ward equipped
with audio and video, with a capacity for 24 students,
as well as a pediatrics room with simulation equip-
ment and educational consoles to administer air and
oxygen.
COMPUTER ROOMS
The computer rooms in the Science building were
renovated (CN-103 and CN-106), improving and
updating the infrastructure for the twenty-student
classroom and the computer room consisting of 60
workstations.
To back-up the computers in the Humanities build-
ing computer room we installed 40 KVa UPS´s, which
will prevent data loss due to power failures.
CLASSROOMS
Renovation of the electrical infrastructure, wir-
ing, finishing details, furniture and equipment was
carried out in twelve classrooms and workshops in
the Humanities building. These updates respect
the characteristics laid out in the renovation plan
regarding institutional image for the physical spaces
on campus, and provide the areas with bigger and
better audio-visual systems.
Additionally, furniture was
replaced in 16 classrooms and
workshops for the Architecture,
Plastic Arts and Design of Visual
Information Licenciaturas. In the
Silkscreen Workshop we installed
drawing boards with cut resis-
tant surfaces, and designed spe-
cial furniture that met ergonomic
standards.
SERVICE AREAS AND MAINTENANCE
In building 37, 690 m2 were used for the UDLAP Cen-
ter for Sport Rehabilitation. This Center has admin-
istrative offices; rooms for evaluation, therapy, and
functional exercises; therapeutic gym; nutrition,
orthopedics and rehabilitation clinics; and areas
with ice baths, lockers and bathrooms.
Several administrative offices were remodeled to
better distribute the spaces assigned to personnel
of different areas.
We built workshops for general services, infrastruc-
ture and transportation in building 15 of Physical
Plant. The space has an area of 434 m2 with enough
height to have better ventilation and a healthy envi-
ronment for maintenance workers.
Two billboards were built inside the campus, using
235 m2 to display UDLAP publicity and important
information, which can be viewed by the general
public driving on the street or by those who enter
the campus.
ELECTRICAL AND HYDRAULIC INFRASTRUCTURE
The installations and equipment of the main electri-
cal substation were replaced with the latest technol-
ogy equipment encapsulated in SF6 gas and systems
of cuts and openings, which provides more safety for
the operator and the installations, as well as dimin-
ishing the maintenance costs. With this modern-
ization, we are the first University in the country
that has this state-of-the-art, compact and secure
substation.
