work servers, as well as the data storage equipment

UDLAP´s presence on the Internet relies on its inter-
national reach, which is why in 2012 we gave spe-
cial impetus to the incorporation of quality digital
material in the different social networks. This year
we were able to have a positive presence through the
promotion of transparency and freedom of speech,
confirmed by the over 160,000 comments on Face-
book by students, showing their identity without
reservations. Also, on YouTube we had over half a
million views of over a thousand available videos.
The service we provide for our students and the
communication of the University community
occurs mainly on landline service. At the begin-
ning of the year, the service was provided by out-
dated equipment, which is why we decided to invest
in its renovation to obtain a reliable service that also
incorporated the needs of VoIP. This new equipment
sets a precedent for the project of unified messaging
benefitting the consolidation of different commu-
nication media used by the community, which will
translate into an increase in productivity and service
to our students.
It is noteworthy to mention that Fernando Thompson
de la Rosa, UDLAP´s General Manager of Information
Technology received an award naming him one of
the 100 best CIOS in Mexico, in the category "Best
Business Alignment". Also, through Netmedia he
received the award of the 50 most innovating com-
panies from Information Week México, for the proj-
ect "Una virtualización muy educada" (A Highly
Educated Virtualization).
Last, but not least, 20 members of the Office of Infor-
mation Technology received their ITIL Foundation
certification, which incorporates the industry inter-
national standards in work methods to provide infor-
mation technology services to all the members of the
university community.
Through efficient administration, the University´s
vision of cutting edge technological infrastructure
is being reinforced.
INVESTMENT IN INFRASTRUCTURE
During 2012, UDLAP established a campus investment
strategy of over 31.5 million pesos, used on the reno-
vation of facilities and remodeling and relocation of
different areas, thus providing modern facilities to
the University community, and enabling the learn-
ing process of students.
LABORATORIES
In the Digital Animation and Post-Production Labs,
we remodeled the administrative cubicles and two
laboratories were equipped for 20 users each, with
the newest technology equipment and software.
The Scenic Arts area was completely renovated with
state-of-the-art systems and equipment. The stage
