TECHNOLOGY AND INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT
TECHNOLOGY AND
INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT
We continue with our investment program for infor-
mation technology and infrastructure to improve
academic, administrative and research activities.
Through the constant improvement of campus infra-
structure and the modernization and renovation of
facilities and equipment, we can guarantee success
in the performance of duties and learning of the
UDLAP community members.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES
The growth and success of an educational institu-
tion is marked by the quality and excellence of its fac-
ulty, such as the one UDLAP has. To support them, it
is important to continue to have cutting edge tech-
nology, so students can prepare themselves for the
challenges that will arise during their professional
development.
Therefore, in 2012 UDLAP invested over 28 million
pesos in the renovation and acquisition of informa-
tion technology to improve the services offered to
the University community.
At the beginning of this administration we imple-
mented a faculty computing equipment program to
enrich the teaching and learning processes through
the use of digital material and immediate access to
Internet resources. This program contemplates the
constant renovation of equipment, which is why this
year 390 latest model computers were bought for
academic personnel, laboratories and classrooms.
The computer rooms on campus provide service to
over 250 students simultaneously, 24 hours a day 7
days a week, providing access to specialized software
and the Internet according to the requirements of
the wide variety of courses offered. Consequently,
the computer network infrastructure was updated to
the latest generation of wiring and the highest indus-
try standards to withstand high data demand appli-
cations. As a complement, the University´s computer
network´s bandwidth was increased from 170 to 250
Mbps. The main equipment for the computer net-
work, where the links of all the buildings converge,
was renovated using fiber optics.
On the other hand, building on the 2011 groundwork,
at the beginning of this year all 160 computer net-
