Universidad de las Américas Puebla
UDLAP OUTREACH
for people with visual disabilities. To date, 89 people
from different parts of the country have attended, of
whom 40 have taken the exam and 18 have been cer-
tified, improving their employment opportunities.
In collaboration with Puebla´s Municipal DIF, in
November 2012 the First International Seminar
"Self-determination and Qual-
ity of Life for People with Disabil-
ities" took place. This seminar
was attended by 456 people from
different parts of the country,
and had speakers from Spain,
Colombia, Venezuela and Mexico.
In September 2012 began the pro-
gram "Sin límites: laboratorio de
arte experimental" (Without Boundaries: Experimen-
tal Art Laboratory), that links with society through
the inclusion of people with disabilities, who partic-
ipate in diverse activities that develop their artistic
abilities and allows them to discover new talents that
will help them to grow.
UDLAP, through the Office of Medical Services,
helped in the Mexican Red Cross campaign "Ya pón-
telo" (Buckle up!), through the sale of t-shirts and
sweatshirts in the University store.
Finally, the Mexican Center for Philanthropy
(CEMEFI) awarded the University the highest level
of Certification of Institutionalization and Transpar-
ency Standards, which endorses its accountability,
and provides credibility to donors on the adminis-
tration of the resources they provide.
SOCIAL COMMUNICATION
Throughout the year, Universi-
dad de las Américas Puebla con-
tinued to strengthen its presence
in the media and in the Univer-
sity community. As a result of an
increase in the number of infor-
mation bulletins, events, radio
participations by faculty and stu-
dents, press conferences and activities with AMPEP,
meetings with media directors and interviews dur-
ing this period, a total of 9,676 mentions in media
were documented.
As part of the advertising regarding the academic
quality of our faculty, as of September 2011 the
project Expresiones UDLAP is published, including
weekly op-ed pieces, research and reflections on
current affairs by UDLAP´s full-time professors. The
articles are published every Tuesday in the Milenio
newspaper and are electronically shared with the
University community.
