INTEGRAL EDUCATION AND MULTICULTURAL ENVIRONMENT
The women Aztecas soccer team earned second place
in the CONADEIP National Championship. Likewise,
in the Women´s Major League of the Mexican Feder-
ation, they came in third place, with fifteen games
won and two tied.
Track and field representatives won eight gold, three
silver and one bronze medals in the State Champion-
ship of the Puebla National Olympics. The women´s
team won seven gold, three silver and seven bronze
medals, earning second place in the CONADEIP
National Championship.
In martial arts, the tae kwon do team won 20 med-
als in CONADEIP´s National Championship, First
Division, second place in national women´s, whereas
the men´s team was named one of the country´s five
best. María José Ramírez and Hugo Palacios won gold
medals at the National Championship of the Tae Kwon
Do Federation, Yanko Ramos López, their coach, was
named national champion at the National Olympiad
and is considered to be the best men´s coachin Puebla
State. Leonardo González, tennis coach, was a cham-
pion with the Puebla team in the 14- to 16-year-old
category.
The women´s basketball team finished in second
place in the National Championship, Second Divi-
sion, which took place at UDLAP, advancing to the
Premier Conference to compete against the best
in the country. The men´s basketball team earned
fourth place in the first division.
UDLAP also celebrates individual sports talent: Omar
Benítez, Peter Polesnak, Robén González, Miguel
García, David Chávez, Eduardo Ramírez and Luciano
Valdés, student athletes, were selected to represent
our country at the Star Bowl against the US national
team, Division III, of the National Collegiate Athletic
Association (NCAA).
AZTECAS CULTURE
During this year UDLAP´s Representative Cultural
Teams program was consolidated. UDLAP´s Choir
stands out by joining Red Coralt-México, side by
side with choirs of prominent academic and artistic
institutions; they participated in the Second Interna-
tional Choir Festival "Con Flor y Canto" in Cuernavaca,
Morelos.
Continuing its upward march, Symphonia Orchestra
presented its traditional Spring Gala, where Dr Saúl
Rodríguez, alumnus of the Music Licenciatura, per-
formed as a soloist. There was
also a performance at Festival
Cameralia 2012, a Spanish music
concert, in UDLAP Art Chapel.
UDLAP´s cultural season took
place for the fourth consecutive
year at the Mexican Institute
of Water Technology (IMTA) in
Jiutepec, Morelos, strengthen-
ing our collaboration and presence there. Aída el
Musical, Children´s Day Festival -where the audi-
ence was part of the scenery-and UDLAP´s Choir Gala
"De México y algo más" (Mexico and More) were
presented.
UDLAP´s theatre company, directed by José Raúl Cruz,
acted in the plays Las Mujeres Sabias, Pequeas
Certezas and La Cantante Calva, which posed a big
challenge for students.
Ópera UDLAP began its activities with Buon Giorno
Principessa, a romantic evening to celebrate
Valentines Day. Henry Purcell´s Dido and Aeneas was
staged and accompanied by Symphonia Orchestra, in
collaboration with the Music Department and with
scenery from Joaquín Conde, full time professor of
the Art Department.
Dance UDLAP presented the students work in Spring
and Fall 2012, in collaboration with outstand-
ing national and international choreographers. In
addition, Acordeones de luz, of professor Ray Eliot
Schwartz, was selected to be shown at the Fifth
Encounter of the Professional Formation Center in
Mexico City.
Zentzontle´s team presented Historias en
Movimiento, which combines folklore and con-
temporary dance, a show full of light and energy at
UDLAP´s auditorium.
The fifth season of UDLAP´s Musical Theatre pre-
sented the musical West Side Story, by Jerome Rob-
bins and Leonard Bernstein. For this show, author´s
royalties were paid to Music Theatre International
and, after an audition process, more than 100 stu-
