INTEGRAL EDUCATION AND MULTICULTURAL ENVIRONMENT
STUDENT PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES
An integral student formation is a fundamental ele-
ment of our educational model. To achieve this,
throughout their university life, we provide the
students with programs that facilitate the devel-
opment of skills and talents, and that promote
self-management at a personal and academic level.
During 2012, different activities were planned and
carried out in order to promote a sense of self-reli-
ance, adequate handling of emotions, autonomy and
interdependence, interpersonal relations and iden-
tity formation.
In this area, student organizations, as part of
co-curricular university activities, offer students dif-
ferent spaces to exercise their group interests and to
develop leadership skills. In 2012, 42 student organi-
zations were registered.
The Student Council of Universidad de las Américas
Puebla (CEUDLAP) is the model of a leader represen-
tative group. Last year, CEUDLAP had a total of 127
members, divided in executive power, judicial power
and 25 boards that make up the legislative power.
CEUDLAP had 16 parliament meetings and held 71
events for the student community.
The Spring and Fall 2012 induction programs to uni-
versity life made an impact on over 1,350 new stu-
dents, assisting them in adapting to UDLAP and
providing them with the necessary tools for a suit-
able class initiation. To develop these programs, we
have 75 UDLAP volunteers acting as guides.
The Department of Student Orientation held advising
sessions, workshops, lectures and training courses,
which were attended by more than 2,000 people,
mostly UDLAP students, as well as parents, school
counselors and high school students.
Finally, in this period more than 8,600 people par-
ticipated in university workshops, movie shows,
recreational field trips and activities that foster dis-
cipline, coordination, self- knowledge and interper-
sonal relations.
UDLAP REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS
At UDLAP academic performance is the priority, but
we also promote cultural events and sports as fun-
damental elements that complement our students´
education. Through representative teams, we have
achieved a formative program that strengthens
the values of the students and encourages them to
develop and excel in sports and arts, strengthening
at the same time UDLAP´s standing in the country.
AZTECAS SPORTS
In 2012, we had an outstanding participation in
sports, winning championships and second places,
and earning a place in Premier Leagues in several
sports. For this reason, the National Student Sports
Commission for private Institutions (CONADEIP)
honored the sports programs of the University as the
best in the Eastern zone of the country and the sec-
ond best in all the country.
The volleyball teams ended the season with excel-
lent results. The men´s team won the National
Championship, Second Division, of CONADEIP, thus
advancing to first division, while the women´s team
won second place in the Premier League´s National
Championship.
