FACULTY OF EXCELLENCE
• Dr Lucila Isabel Castro Pastrana, academician and
researcher of the Department of Chemical Biolog-
ical Sciences, was chosen as President of the Mex-
ican Association of Hospital Pharmacists for the
period 2012-2014.
• Dr Gabriel Andrés Cámpoli, professor of the Law
Department, published two books: Serie Prác-
tica de Juicios Orales MATLAB and El Juicio Oral
Mercantil en México.
• Dr Benito Corona Vásquez, Head of the Depart-
ment of Civil and Environmental Engineering; Dr
Erick Roberto Bandala González, professor of the
same Department; Dr Travis William Stanton, Head
of the Anthropology Department; and Dr Benito
Marias, professor and researcher of the Univer-
sity of Illinois, Urbana Champaign, directed a proj-
ect financed by the National Science Foundation,
aimed at identifying water quality problems in
Yaxunah, Yucatán.
• The Puebla State Council honored Dr Erick Roberto
Bandala González, professor of the Department of
Civil and Environmental Engineering, for Science
and Technology (CONCYTEP) with the award Pre-
mio Estatal de Ciencia y Tecnología (State Award
for Science and Technology) 2012.
• Dr José Rafael Espinosa Victoria, professor of the
Department of Chemical, Food and Environmen-
tal Engineering, earned the distinction Mérito
Académico (Academic Merit) from the National
Association of Engineering Schools (ANFEI),
Region V.
• Dr Vicente Alarcón Aquino, of the Department of
Computer Science, Electronics and Mechatronics,
was admitted as a regular member of the Mexi-
can Academy of Sciences (AMC) and of the Infor-
mation and Communication Technology Thematic
Network (RedTIC) - CONACYT, in the Great Chal-
lenge of Information Security and Transparency.
Likewise, Dr Ofelia Cervantes Villagómez was cho-
sen as national coordinator for a line of investiga-
tion of databases, and as member of a committee
on international cooperation and outreach of the
same network, while Dr Alfredo Sánchez Huitrón
coordinates line 5 that corresponds to Human-
computer Interaction (HCI).
• Dr José Luis Vázquez González, professor of the
Department of Computer Science, Electronics and
Mechatronics, was accepted as a member of the
thematic research network of CONACYT, National
Network on Robotics and Mechatronics.
• Dr David Báez López and Dr Ofelia Cervantes
Villagómez published the book MATLAB con
Aplicaciones a la Ingeniería, Física y Finanzas.
Additionally, in collaboration with Félix Eduardo
Guerrero-Castro published the book Advanced
Circuit Simulation Using Multisim Workbench.
• Dr Rafael Idoyagabeitia García, professor of the
Department of Business Administration, was
named National Coordinator of the National Asso-
ciation of Accounting and Administration Schools
(ANFECA), for the 2012-2014 period.
