EVALUATION OF TEACHING ACTIVITIES
Faculty evaluation by UDLAP students acts as an
indicator to establish improvement strategies and
parameters to confer distinctions to professors. Dur-
ing Spring 2012, 1,394 courses were evaluated, repre-
senting 94% of all courses taught, with an average
response of 67%. During Fall 2012, 1,591 courses
were evaluated, 92% of the total offer, with a 69%
response and an evaluation average of 4.40 in a scale
from 1 to 5.
The distinction "Compromiso con la Educación
UDLAP" (UDLAP Commitment to Education), granted
to the best evaluated professors of each School, is
given based on an evaluation system that includes
student surveys, peer reviews, the opinion of the
department head, and the candidate´s participation
in research, extension, consulting and support for
the UDLAP community. In 2012 this award was given
to the following professors:
FACULTY ACHIEVEMENTS
UDLAP´s faculty is recognized nationally and interna-
tionally not only because of their work in educating
future professionals, but for their research projects,
publications, events, lectures and presentations in
different forums and for different audiences.
Some of the achievements and honors obtained by
UDLAP professors during 2012:
• José Luis Jaspeado Escalona, Head of the Archi-
tecture Department, won first prize in the single
family home category at the X Biennial of Puebla
Architecture 2012.
• Dr Misa Ito and professor Mayra Morales of the
Art Department, received from the Puebla State
Council for Culture and the Arts the PECDAP (Cre-
ation and Artistic Development Stimulus Program)
Award 2013.
• Professor Ray Eliot Schwartz, Coordinator of the
Dance Licenciatura, participated as juror and
instructor of a master lecture in the TV program
"Ópera Prima", jointly organized by the National
Council for Culture and the Arts (CONACULTA) and
Channel 22.
• Dr Brian Banks, composer and professor of the
Music Department, presented his new record pro-
duction with 7 miniature pieces, dedicated to and
interpreted by UDLAP students, alumni, and pro-
fessors, as well as by renowned career musicians.
• Dr Misa Ito and Maestro Juan Hermida Camacho,
Head of the Arts Department, gave a concert in the
Oaxaca International Instrumental Music Festival
2012.
• Dr Guillermo Ruiz Argüelles, advisor and professor
of the Department of Health Science, received in
the name of Clínica Ruiz the award "Luis Sánchez
Medal", earning first place in two categories: basic
research and clinical research. In addition, the
American College of Physicians honored him with
a Mastership. He is the third Mexican to receive
this honor.
