UDLAP PUBLICATIONS
To create an image that matches the academic qual-
ity of the University, an exclusive typographic fam-
ily has been created and developed: UDLAP Sans has
24 variations and 256 glyphs. Alumnus Isaías Loaiza
Ramírez, of Visual Information Design, was in charge
of the project.
In 2011, UDLAP Sans typography won one of the
most prestigious awards in the field, "a! Diseño,"
making us the only higher educa-
tion institution that has its own
characters for internal and external
communication.
The first book designed with this
typography, and the new image of
the academic research collection, was
the project "Espejo colectivo. Relatos
de maestros e investigadoras: Las
tecnologías en la práctica cotidiana
de escuelas rurales" sponsored by CONACYT. Dr Laura
Helena Porras and Dr Bertha Salinas Amescua, profes-
sors of the Department of Science Education, were in
charge of the project.
Other UDLAP publications in 2012 were:
• Entre la fe y la guerra, sobre el monumento 5 de
mayo, a reprint of a 2007 UDLAP publication of
the National Institute of Anthropology and His-
tory (inaH) about the Loreto and Guadalupe Forts.
• Della Biblioteca Franciscana, a sample of the
antique book collection of Provincia del Santo
Evangelio de México (Mexico´s Franciscan Holy
Gospel Province).
It is also important to remark on the editorial work
and publication of the book presented in October
2012: Vida sustentable. La experiencia de un sueño
compartido, that included the work of 55 profes-
sors, researchers and scholars of international stat-
ure, with a prologue by Dr Mario Molina, Nobel Prize
winner. Dr Nélida Asili of the Psychology Department
coordinated an edited this book, which was printed
on ecological paper, thanks to the collaboration of
Xerox Mexico.
UDLAP editions remain at the forefront of the digital
age, reestablishing its online catalogue and develop-
ing printed books in electronic format.
Thus, the Worldwatch Institute report,
La situación del mundo. Hacia una
prosperidad sostenible will be the
first to be launched as an app, with
the collaboration of the Puebla State
Ministry of Environmental Sustain-
ability and Zoning, Fundación Tele-
visa and Africam Safari.
We are the only
higher education
institution in
Latin America
that has its
own font
