The program Licenciatura in Computer Systems Engineering at Fundacion Universidad de las Americas Puebla (UDLAP) forms professionals who are highly proficient in the development of computer technologies in areas that require technological solutions. The program is committed to the formation of effective communicators, team members and independent thinkers as well as with the formation of individuals who recognize universal values and the importance of life-long learning.

Program Educational Objectives

The objectives for the program Licenciatura in Computer Systems Engineering focus on preparing engineers capable of developing a professional career in companies and institutions or pursuing graduate studies in Mexico or abroad, in areas related to the discipline. During the initial years of their careers, UDLAP’s Computer Systems Engineering graduates will:

PEO # 1: Have a successful career in Computer Systems Engineering by demonstrating technical proficiency in the theoretical and practical knowledge of the discipline.

PEO # 2: Be an excellent Computer Systems Engineers and become effective communicators, team members, decision makers and leaders.

PEO # 3: Understand the global impact of the profession and recognize the social responsibility of Computer Systems Engineers.

PEO # 4: Recognize the relevance of life-long learning and commit to professional development.

Student outcomes

The Student Outcomes for the Computer Systems Engineering Program at Fundacion Universidad de las Americas, Puebla are the following:

  1. an ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering
  2. an ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data
  3. an ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability

Statistical Data

As a graduate from the Bachelor of Computer Systems Engineering you will be able to analyze, evaluate, innovate, and implement computer systems, using database concepts and methodologies, software engineering, and artificial intelligence. You will consider also technical, ethical, and social factors to propose technological alternatives to develop software, and use computer tools to design complex systems that answer the challenges of globalization.

Once you have finished your study program, you will have a bachelor´s degree in addition to a licenciatura degree. Therefore, your studies will be recognized worldwide.

In addition to enhancing your entry skills, at the Licenciatura in Computer Systems Engineering we propose to:

  • Teach you to analyze, design, develop, and evaluate computer systems that answer to specific purposes: administrative applications, entertainment, and industry.
  • Guide you for effective interaction with professionals of other areas, creating multidisciplinary and multicultural groups.
  • Help you understand the impact that computing solutions may have on the social, economic, and environmental context of a globalized world.
  • Teach you skills to identify areas of opportunity in software companies, and be a leader in developing computer innovations.

  • Masters the development of software, and a detailed analysis of its security, economic, and sustainability aspects, to provide computer technology solutions.
  • Able to handle software engineering techniques and select computer tools to develop applications for computers, create reports, and evaluate information.
  • Knowledge of computer tools, through the analysis of theoretical bases of this area, to select the design of complex systems.
  • Able to apply design procedures using computer tools to implement technological and innovative alternatives to software development.
  • Able to propose integral solutions to problems related to computer systems, efficiently analyzing information in its diverse formats and sources, to implement technological alternatives in software companies.
