PHYSICS

The Physics program at UDLAP will make you an expert in the study of matter and energy properties, and a specialist in comprehending different physical phenomena. Armed with this knowledge, you will be able to work in any company, in Mexico or abroad, and be prepared to continue studying at postgraduate schools. Finally, after graduation, you may work in space agencies, research centers or aeronautics companies, among other options, always standing out as a professional able to solve specific Physics problems and to advance new theories and technologies in the field.

UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE OBJECTIVES

As a professional physicist, you will be highly capable to solve scientific and technological problems in the production sector and in research centers. Additionally, you will acknowledge the importance of research (scientific and technological), with a commitment to use and promote it in favor of society's welfare, using needed procedures to formulate and solve problems in the real world.

Specific objective

Besides expanding you abilities at enrolment, the program of Physics has as objectives:

  • To show you how to apply experimental physics methods to specific problems.

  • To encourage you to work in multidisciplinary teams.

  • To make you participate in highly competitive teams during your courses.

  • To make you an expert in mathematical concepts.

  • To instruct you to express theoretical models in mathematical language.

  • To teach you to use computers in order to generate numerical models.

  • To train you to select, use and obtain data through modern technological equipment.

  • To educate you to use Spanish and English correctly.

  • To keep you informed regarding socioeconomic evolution and technological opportunities.

  • To get you to participate in traditional courses, lab sessions, discussion panels, research seminars and workshops while you are at UDLAP.

INITIAL PROFILE

  • Conviction to work for the common good and to strive for success.

  • Openness in the areas of knowledge, culture and interpersonal relations

  • Vision to accomplish goals through knowledge.

  • High ethical standards and a social and environmental conscience.

  • Committed interest in science, especially in physics.

GRADUATE PROFILE

At the end of your studies, having acquired new knowledge and expanded your abilities, you will have:

  • Command of the areas of classical, modern and experimental physics, and mathematical methods of physics, among others.

  • Technical ability learned through the use of lab equipment, in order to simulate different physical phenomena.

  • Use of mathematical and statistical models for the solution of physics, economics and financial problems.

  • Dexterity in using different equipment in classical physics, optics, and modern physics labs.

  • Competence to develop logical criteria to relate experimental data to theoretical models, drawing correct and justified conclusions.
