CUTTING EDGE RESEARCH
Cutting edge research is one of the main components
of our institutional strategy. Therefore, we support
the development of projects, and the training of
researchers whose work strength-
ens our graduate programs and
in turn contribute to the coun-
try´s advancement in science and
technology.
The commitment to research is
evident in our faculty. The number
of full time professors recognized
by CONACYT through the National
Researchers System (SNI) increased to 62.
A very important achievement in 2012 was to register
before the Mexican Institute of Industrial Ownership
(IMPI) the patents for "Caja de Escape-Exploración-
Evitación en campo restringido"
by Julio César Panagos Corto of
the Psychology Department, and
"Sistema convertidor de energía
hidráulica de un flujo en vaivén
a energía mecánica rotativa para
la generación de electricidad por
medio de olas del mar", by Dr
Pedro Bañuelos Sánchez, profes-
sor of the Department of Com-
puter Science, Electronics and Mechatronics, and by
Alexandre Rivera Díaz,a Mechatronics student.
RESEARCH PROJECTS
We promote applied research that generates knowl-
edge and provides benefits to industry, society, and
the field of education. Associations with research
organizations like CONACYT have resulted in achieve-
ments such as the one obtained by Dr Aurelio López-
Malo Vigil, from the Department of Chemical,
Food and Environmental Engineering, who led the
research and technological exploration of uncon-
