Objective

As a student of the Medical Surgeon, you can acquire the theoretical and practical knowledge to have a comprehensive training to contribute to the prevention and preservation of health. We will develop your clinical practice skills and promote ethical and human values, so you act diligently and towards collaborative work, to help you act with social responsibility and foster critical, creative thinking and the ability to constantly learn. Our study program consists of twelve semesters, including your internship and social service. Each of the activities carried out during your career brings you closer to successfully joining the work force.

Graduate profile

The Medical Surgeon’s teaching learning process is based on competencies to integrate knowledge, skills and attitudes that train ethical professionals who can meet the needs and requirements of the population, in a global world.

  • Have a solid university education, developed in the basic and clinical areas, and the internship and social service so you competitively and ethically face the evaluation and resolution of medical problems from a systemic perspective.
  • Have extensive theoretical knowledge about human conditions and the methodology of the profession, to have a high capacity to make timely decisions.
  • Have scientific knowledge of biological, psychological, humanitarian and social phenomena to favor research and the search for new and better treatments and thus contribute to the continuous updating and advancement of medical knowledge in their daily practice.
  • Demonstrate mastery in the theoretical, methodological and technological aspects that constitute the state of the art of professional work.
  • Have a social and professional commitment attitude to promote, preserve, improve, restore and rehabilitate human health in daily work.
  • Show an appropriate attitude to increase individual strengths, recognize the limits of their competence or be able to be a part of multidisciplinary teams with other health professionals in various multicultural situations, for the best care of patients.
  • Demonstrate skill in clinical practice, which must be exercised with knowledge, diligence, humanism, prudence and critical judgment, guided by bioethics that considers respect for human life as the supreme value and focusing on physical, mental, emotional, affective and behavioral integrity of the individuals under their care.
  • Master the appropriate use of information technology, to stay up to date with worldwide medical advances and continue their self-directed learning at the local and international level. These skills are transmitted and translated into teaching and research activities that impact their community.
  • Demonstrate skill and reflective capacity in oral and written communication in Spanish and English to effectively disseminate the results of their research and have broad access to updated information.
  • Possess medical-legal and administrative knowledge to care for resources, thus being an efficient and effective individual.
  • Ability to join national and international work environments or continue with their studies.
