Felipe Córdova Lozano holds a PhD in Chemistry, with a specialty in Molecular and Structural Chemistry from the Joseph Fourier University of Grenoble, France. He holds a Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the Universidad de las Américas Puebla. and a B.S. in Industrial Chemistry from the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla.
He has done sabatical research in institutions such as: Brigham Young University, in Utah and The University of Texas at San Antonio, where he worked with Dr. Miguel José Yacamán mainly in characterization of 1D nanomaterials by scanning and transmission electron microscopy. He has published 19 internationally refereed articles, directed 21 undergraduate and graduate theses and participated in national and international conferences related to his discipline.
Professionally, he has developed quality control and raw material analysis projects for companies such as Janssen and Grupo Jumex, as well as material characterization analysis using Scanning Electron Microscopy and an Energy Dispersive X-Ray detector for companies such as Thyssenkrup Presta de México, Grupo IDESA and Golde Group.
His research area is focused on the development of projects using 1D nanomaterials including metal oxide and polymeric nanofibers (synthesized by electrospinning), metal oxide nanotubes (synthesized by the anodic oxidation method) and Ag nanowires (synthesized by the polyol method) for photocatalysis processes. A recent area of research is the synthesis of composites (nanoadsorbents) used for environmental remediation of contaminated aqueous sites by the adsorption process. He belonged to the National System of Researchers (SNI) at level 1 (2009-2011).
He considers himself a passionate teacher for the subjects he teaches (physicochemimistry at all levels, analytical chemistry, instrumental analytical chemistry and courses related to nanotechnology) who enjoys the application of mathematical procedures for teaching chemistry and materials science. His main motivation is to interact with students and to see the academic development of each of them in the topics of nanotechnology and chemistry.
Since 1995 he is a full time professor in the Department of Chemical Biological Sciences, where he is currently academic coordinator of the Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, likewise, he was academic coordinator of the Bachelors Degree in Nanotechnology (2013-2014), Interim Department Head of the Department of Chemical Biological Sciences (2014) and participated in the Administrative Council of the Udlap for 2 terms representing the School of Sciences of the Universidad de las Américas Puebla.
