PEO # 1: Career

Graduates will demonstrate the ability to work as professionals in Mechanical Engineering or related areas, and/or participate in research and development in science, engineering, technology, and to perform entrepreneurial actions.

PEO # 2: Practice

Graduates will demonstrate the ability to practice Mechanical Engineering in diverse industries and government settings, involving the knowledge, application, and analysis of thermal/fluid systems, mechanical systems and design, materials, manufacturing, maintenance services, and other emerging areas. Our graduates will contribute as technical experts, taking on responsibilities in analysis, design, fabrication, execution, control, and maintenance, meeting the expectations of their employers.

PEO # 3: Continuous Learning

Graduates will demonstrate the ability to continuously expand their skill-set and knowledge, if required, through independent study or high-level training (professional certification programs and graduate studies).

PEO # 4: Leadership & Professional Engagement

Graduates will demonstrate the ability to attain and maintain positions of influence in their organizations, from which they will demonstrate a strong social commitment, based on an assessment of the impacts derived from their decisions.

As a graduate from the Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering you will be able to design and produce mechanical systems, applying techniques and methodologies from materials science, manufacturing processes, design of mechanical systems and machinery, thermal analysis and energy processes, in order to develop engineering solutions that meet the needs of the industrial sector and society.

Once you have finished your study program, you will have a bachelor´s degree in addition to a licenciatura degree. Therefore, your studies will be recognized worldwide.

In addition to enhancing your entry skills, at the Licenciatura in Mechanical Engineering we propose to:

  • Teach you technical skills in theoretical and practical aspects of Mechanical Engineering.
  • Help you understand the global impact of your profession and recognize the social responsibility of mechanical engineers.
  • Train you to recognize the importance of constant learning, committing to professional development.
  • Likes to solve engineering problems.
  • Likes math, physics and other sciences.
  • Willing to work for the greater good and to be successful.
  • Is curious about creating mechanisms that help in the transfer of movement.
  • Wishes to increase his/her creativity through mechanical designs.
  • Able to design mechanical elements and/or systems through different analyses related to material selection and resistance, movement and manufacturing, applying the principles of energy conservation and taking into account environmental, social and ethical restrictions to responsibly satisfy the needs of society.
  • Masters experiments through practices in the lab and the use of specialized software to analyze and interpret data in manufacturing, materials engineering and energy areas.
  • Knows how to analyze the movement of mechanisms and mechanical-electrical systems by applying the fundamentals of kinetics, simulation and mechanical vibrations to verify the stability and reliability of the mechanical system.
  • Able to develop innovative solutions through the selection of advanced materials as well as the application of vanguard manufacturing processes and new technologies in mechanical engineering to design mechanical systems that meet the industry’s needs.
  • Able to analyze the mechanical design structure through the use of specialized software to aid in decision-making to improve their design and thus meet the customer’s specifications.
  • Can modify the geometry of machinable materials through the use of machines/tools to understand the variables and restrictions of cuts as well as the safety aspects when operating these machines.
