Constant innovation forces us to renew our technology infrastructure in order to maintain, innovate and improve service offered to the university community; therefore during this period an investment of 24.5 million pesos for service updating and extension was made.
One of the first steps was to modernize and enlarge coverage of the wireless network access by substituting the obsolete equipment with latest generation models. We renewed 170 wireless access points throughout the college computer network and installed 56 access points to give service to common areas of Ignacio Bernal and José Gaos colleges. Next year we shall complete installation in the other facilities.
In addition, we made changes to the wire network in academic and administrative areas by updating the equipment that allows user interconnection to services of the university, as well as external networks, which additionally incorporated new services related to the community needs.
Without doubt information security is one of the most important actions to take into consideration. The increase of cybernetic attacks on corporations, institutions and organizations forces us to be aware, and strengthen our security system. This was achieved by implementing a hardware and software solution from renowned security corporations, to prevent and control cybernetic attacks, and protect the institution’s computer network. This way we positioned ourselves as one of the country’s private education institutions with the most security in the field.
One of the most ambitious IT projects developed this year, which shall continue throughout 2012, is updating the technological infrastructure of the Institutional Data Center. In this period the most critical stage was completed, by installing the new computer infrastructure, which shall allow consolidation of 140 net servers into just 34 with three times more capacity than the preceding and integrating virtual technology, thus improving performance of such servers; they will have the
