we have in the country, in 2011 showed a 6.5% increase over the previous year, thus allowing us to progress towards the objective of having 10% of international students proportional to the total permanent student population. At the beginning of the spring 2012 semester, the foreign student population reached for the first time in the last four years 7% of the total population with students from several countries, among them-France, United States, Germany, Canada, Italy and Japan.

UDLAP AWARDS

In UDLAP we acknowledged the effort, perseverance and academic results of our students-we are proud that they are part of the university community.

Diego Antonio Saturno García, student of the Bachelors Degree in Communication Sciences obtained one of the 40 scholarships granted by the Botín Foundation to be trained in public administration.

José Damián Álvarez Díaz de Rivera, Archeologist graduated from the UDLAP, obtained a honorable mention as the second best thesis at national level in the 2011 Alfonso Caso annual award of the Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (“National Institute of Anthropology and History”).

In 2011 the corporation BASF Mexicana granted scholarships to the students Gonzalo Jiménez Domínguez, Miguel Ángel Escamilla Colín and Diana Ireri Jiménez Ireta. Likewise Daryl Rodrigo Díaz Granados, Oscar Adrián Jiménez Gordillo, Daniela Emilia Fajardo Garnica, Paulina Marenco Gross, Úrsula Karina Morales Valencia, and Mariana Mota Toquero were recipients of the Beca Scholar scholarship granted by the company Dow Chemical.

The students Oscar Ruiz Tovar, Mariana Souza Rodríguez, and Juan Bernardo Galeazzi Oviedo,

obtained first, second and third place in the First State Essay College Contest Jóvenes Comprometidos con la Transparencia organized by the Department of Public Education of the State of Puebla, the Instituto Poblano de la Juventud (“Poblano Youth Institute”) and the Comisión para el Acceso a la Información Pública (“Board for Public Information Access”).

Alan Andrade Cestelos, Rocío Thaís Corona Chávez, Beatriz Martínez Hernández, Jorge Denisse López Espinosa, and Rafael Alfredo de la Rosa Morales, students of Information Technologies and Computer Systems Engineering took first place in the 5th Latin American Conference of Human-Computer Interaction), held in Brazil.

Francisco Meyo Erosa, Finance and Accountancy graduate student won the first place in the National Accountancy Award of the Instituto Mexicano de Contadores Públicos (“Mexican Institute of Public Accountants”).

Alfonso Salvador Rocha Robles, student of Culinary Arts has submitted the results of the Potehtli-Pinole Project in the community of San Mateo Ozolco, with the intention to rescue and improve the corn seeds in the community.

Ariadna Jatzibe González Chaix, Raúl Julián Ortiz Bautista, Andrea Hernández Pérez, Fabiola Guillén Pérez, José Antonio Simg Pérez, Zuleyma Teresa Román Marcelín, Carmen María Ginette Murad Koppel, and Kenia Abigail Martínez Adame students of the Bachelor Degree in Medicine obtained four awards during the 2nd. Interdisciplinary Conferences of Basic Sciences in the Health Area organized by the UPAEP university.
