WE CONTINUE HIRING STAFF AND MAKING INVESTMENTS TO PROVIDE SPACES WITH AVANT-GARDE EDUCATION TECHNOLOGY AND ACCESS TO NEW IT TECHNOLOGIES, AS WELL AS ESTABLISHING MORE ADVANCED COLLABORATION ENVIRONMENTS.
ACADEMIC QUALITY SUPPORT
The UDLAP education model is based on the continuous improvement of our education’s academic and technology infrastructure. In order to achieve the aforesaid, during the academic period 2010-2011 the university continued hiring academic staff with international renown, and implemented a program to update faculty. In order to achieve the latter, the investment program to provide our faculty spaces with avant-garde education technology and access to new IT technologies has been maintained.
Our academic faculty was reinforced with the addition of 15 new full-time faculty throughout this year in the areas of Architecture, Health Sciences, Communication Sciences, Law, International Relations and Political Sciences, International Business Management, Economics, Business Management and Finance and Accountancy. These acquisitions allow us to strengthen the new bachelors degree programs recently updated through the curriculum review process, and the new postgraduate programs that shall be subject to curriculum assessment during the year 2012. It
is worthy of mention that we also hired personnel to provide administrative support in the monitoring of students in the nursing and medicine areas.
FACULTY CONTINUING EDUCATION
In order to reinforce our commitment towards academic quality, an integral continuing education program for faculty was created with the participation of specialists in topics such as: teaching experience, electronic portfolio as work tool, reinforcement of the Quality Enhancement Plan, advanced use of computers, mail and internal courier service, updating of resources and information services, among others.
In 2010, 14 courses were offered, of which 262 faculty participated. During 2011, the offering was broadened to 21 courses and participation was greater with 794 teachers. Throughout this year, the actions taken will have follow-up by means of a program for faculty continuing education and development, with the intention to continue reinforcing the academic quality of our university.
