Universidad de las Américas Puebla grants the Scholar UDLAP award to the five undergraduate students who obtained the highest grade point average in their respective schools, as well as to the one graduate student with the highest GPA. The Scholar UDLAP award recognizes the intellectual talent, initiative, perseverance and integrity of our students, and distinguishes them as the leaders of their class.

| Mtro. Ray Eliot Schwartz |
Department of Arts School of Arts and Humanities
Professor Ray Schwartz is an artist of movement, and an activist committed to experimental development and the understanding of the human body. He coordinates the undergraduate program in Dance, in which he helps his students to find their own techniques, to learn from improvisation, to discover new melodies and to express the concerns that interfere in our daily lives. Professor Schwarz has worked in several internationally recognized universities in the United States, Turkey and Mexico. He has founded important projects in the arts.

| Dra. Laura Verónica Plá |
Department of Chemical – Biological Sciences School of Sciences
Dr. Plá earned her doctorate in Biology and Health with a specialty in biological and medical engineering at the Universidad Henri Poincaré. Here at UDLAP she is a professor in the Department of Chemical – Biological Sciences and coordinates the graduate program. Currently she is conducting a research project with joint funding from CONACYT and the state of Puebla: "Distribution of Jatropha curcas (pine nut) populations, Ricinus communis L (castor bean) and Peruvian yellow oleander in Puebla and their exploitation to produce biofuels." Dr. Plá’s papers have been published in international scholarly journals.

| Dr. Luis Felipe Luna Reyes |
Department of Business Administration School of Business and Economics
With a Ph.D. in Information Science from University at Albany, Dr. Luna primarily researches modeling and dynamic simulation of socio-technical systems, especially those systems related to collaboration and implementation of information technologies in the public sector. Dr. Luna has worked in academe, management, consulting, and has directed research projects funded by prestigious institutions.

| Dr. Rafael Cedeño Rosete |
Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering School of Engineering
Professor Cedeño earned his civil engineering degree at the BUAP, a master in Engineering at UNAM and a doctorate in Engineering at Texas Tech University. Dr. Cedeño is a published researcher who studies the development of application software for the structural analysis and design of: flat frames, flat and tridimensional frameworks, reinforced concrete column design, retaining walls, wind analysis of chimneys and LRFD steel design.

| Dra. Patricia Plunket Nagoda |
Department of Anthropology School of Social Sciences
Dr. Patricia Plunket has a Ph.D. in Anthropology and is a much acclaimed researcher. She is a level II member of the National System of Researchers and belongs to Phi Beta Delta, the Honor Society for International Scholars. Professor Plunket has worked on innumerable research projects, as well as rescue archeological projects dating back to 1973. Recently she has supervised Cholula and the surrounding area, in addition to coordinating the undergraduate and master programs in Anthropology at the university.

| Dra. Sonia Gisella Aguirre Narváez |
Department of Information Design School of Arts and Humanities
Dr. Aguirre studied Graphic Design at the UPAEP, where she also obtained a master degree in Design Processes and a doctorate in Marketing. She has studied publicity at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in London, England; Development of Pedagogical Techniques at University of Regina, Canada, and newspaper publishing design at El Universal, in Mexico City. Professor Aguirre is a specialist in editorial production of magazines and newspapers, and has done research to help magazines develop publishing strategies to promote the participation of their readers in social responsibility projects. She has given various courses and seminars on editorial design in Mexico and abroad. Dr. Aguirre is a member of the American Historical Association.

| Dr. Miguel Ángel Méndez Rojas |
Department of Chemical-Biological Sciences School of Sciences
Dr. Méndez has been fascinated by science since he was a young child. He is an avid reader and writer, passions that he enjoys to this day. Dr. Méndez obtained his Chemistry degree at UDLAP, and a doctorate in Chemistry from Texas Christian University. Currently Professor Méndez coordinates the undergraduate program in Nanotechnology and Molecular Engineering and combines his passion for teaching with research and scientific dissemination. He is a member of the National System of Researchers and of the American Chemical Society; he is a delegate to the National Chemical Olympiad in Puebla, and to the Technical Consulting committee of the State Council on Science and Technology for the state of Puebla.

| Mtro. Luis Gabriel Ríos Casas |
Department of Chemical, Food and Environmental Engineering School of Engineering
Professor Ríos holds a Chemical Engineering degree from Universidad Iberoamericana, and a master of science with a specialty in Chemical Engineering from UDLAP, where he has taught since 1981. He is coauthor of several book chapters and has published more than 25 refereed journal articles. He is a member of the Mexican Society of Thermodynamics, of the Mexican Academy of Research and Teaching in Chemical Engineering, and of the Mexican Institute of Chemical Engineers. Professor Ríos is convinced that "a professors´ best resume is the imprint they leave on their students."

| Dr. Leandro Rodríguez Medina |
Department of International Relations and Political Science School of Social Sciences
Dr. Rodríguez has a degree in Political Science from Universidad de Belgrano, Argentina, an MA in Philosophy from SUNY at Stony Brook, a master in Epistemology and the History of Science from Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero, Argentina, and a doctorate in Sociology from University of Cambridge, in the UK. He is currently the academic coordinator of The Puentes Consortium, a consortium of Mexican and American universities that promote research in topics relevant to both nations. Recent publications include: ¿Cómo debe ser una (nueva) teoría social para encuadrar el desarrollo sustentable? (2011), Calidad y pertinencia de la producción y distribución del conocimiento en las IES (2011), Las relaciones entre campos científicos en las ciencias sociales: la ciencia política argentina y sus vínculos internacionales (2010) y Apuntes para una geopolítica del conocimiento (2009).

| Dr. Raúl Bringas Nostti |
Department of International Business Administration School of Business and Economics
Dr. Bringas has an undergraduate degree in Anthropology, another degree in Law, and a master degree in U.S. Studies. He holds a doctorate degree in History from the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla with a postdoc in History from Harvard University. He has published articles in refereed journals and is the author or three books: La regeneración de un pueblo pestilente: La anexión de México a Estados Unidos, 1846-1848 (2008), Historia de Tehuacán: de tiempos prehispánicos a la modernidad (2010) and "Historia de las instituciones jurídicas" (2010), co-written with Peter Reich from Whittier Law School. He likes to play the piano, and used to belong to a jazz band.

Es graduada de la Maestría en Filosofía, de la Universidad Paul Valéry-Montpellier III, Francia. Ha colaborado como escritora, crítica de arte, presentadora y curadora de varias y diversas publicaciones y exposiciones nacionales e internacionales. Entre sus últimas participaciones, destaca Modos de subjetivación. Construcción del sujeto desde diferentes perspectivas, Universidad de Guanajuato, 2011.“Un acercamiento al arte: entre regímenes de pensamiento y modos de subjetivación”, fue una de sus últimas ponencias, en la Universidad de Maine, Estados Unidos.

| Escuela de Ciencias
Es maestra en Ciencias de la Computación y Sistemas de Información, por la Universidad de las Américas Puebla. En el último año participó en el proyecto COMCE, Lean Enterprise, para la capacitación de mandos medios y altos en las empresas, a través de UDLAP Consultores.
Su labor como docente ha sido reconocida por la editorial Mc Graw Hill, al haber sido invitada a realizar la revisión técnica del libro Precálculo, de Dennis Zill. La maestra Abad ha recibido dos veces el Premio a la Excelencia Académica por parte de la Universidad de las Américas Puebla, relacionados con su labor de enseñanza de casi 20 años.

| Dr. Víctor Manuel Reynoso Angulo |
| Escuela de Ciencias Sociales
Es graduado del Doctorado en Ciencia Social, del Colegio de México. En el último año, realizó seis publicaciones, además de artículos semanales en el periódico digital e-consulta y diversos chats en El Universal. Es miembro fundador de la Asociación Mexicana de Ciencia Política y coordinador de la revista de dicha organización. Es también coordinador en Puebla de la Red Nacional de Investigación de la Calidad de la Democracia en México. Ha participado como ponente en diversas conferencias nacionales e internacionales. Actualmente cuenta con dos proyectos de investigación.

| Dr. Enrique Palou García |
| Escuela de Ingeniería
Es doctor en Ciencias de la Ingeniería, por la Universidad Estatal de Washington, Estados Unidos. En el último año, el Dr. Palou publicó un capítulo de libro especializado, ocho artículos científicos en revistas arbitradas de prestigio internacional y altos factores de impacto, así como otros nueve artículos científicos en memorias de congresos de alto impacto, en el área de educación de la ingeniería. Además, ha tenido una amplia participación en congresos nacionales e internacionales.
Su labor como docente e investigador ha sido reconocida a nivel nacional e internacional al ser nombrado, para un segundo periodo, investigador nacional Nivel 2, en el Sistema Nacional de Investigadores de México, al que pertenece desde 1998. Fue electo Chair del Higher Education Review Board, del Institute of Food Technologists, y recibió un nombramiento especial como miembro de la Facultad de Posgrado de Purdue University. Así también, continúa como miembro del Consejo Editorial y editor asociado del Journal of Food Science Education.

| Dra. Rocío Del Carmen Moreno Sanabria |
| Escuela de Negocios y Economía
Obtuvo el doctorado en Ciencias, con especialidad en Administración, de la Universidad La Salle y un doctorado en Administración de Empresas, de la Universidad de la Laguna. Es miembro numerario de la Academia Mexicana de Doctores en Ciencias Humanas y Sociales. Entre otras distinciones, ha recibido el premio FIMPES (Federación de Instituciones Mexicanas Privadas de Educación Superior), primer lugar en la categoría investigación, con el tema “Evaluación de la calidad del servicio educativo”, y el premio COMCE (Consejo Mexicano de Comercio exterior), obteniendo el primer lugar por su proyecto de investigación ligado al comercio exterior. Ha publicado artículos en revistas especializadas y capítulos de libros. Cuenta con un libro: El impacto de las prácticas de recursos humanos en el desarrollo de capacidades estratégicas.
